Did you know about Food Insecurity in the Lake Norman area?
51% of Charlotte-Mecklenburg students qualify for free/reduced lunch and are at risk for food insecurity, including 48% of Blythe Elementary and 44% of J. M. Alexander Middle School students.
Bags of Hope is working with Lake Norman area schools by supplying free food provisions to school children who experience food insecurity. As Peninsula neighbors, we’re collecting specific items to be donated and distributed to children.
We’re collecting items beginning Monday, August 9 - Saturday, August 14 until 11:00 AM.
You can leave items in a bag on Pam Varghese’s front porch at 19401 Peninsula Shores Drive.
